MWWine School offers core wine certification classes and new Spanish curriculum to fast track students’ understanding of wine
Asheville, NC – June 5, 2024 – MWWine School today announced new dates for wine certification courses in Asheville, including the Wine Scholar Guild’s brand new Spanish Wine Essentials, which takes a deep dive into the world of Spanish wine and WSET Level 1 and 2 Award in Wines, which are among the most prestigious wine industry qualifications in the world. The classes offer something for everyone from beginners to connoisseurs, and wine and food industry professionals.
MWWine School which offers the classes in partnership with Metro Wines/Asheville School of Wine, first offered classes in Asheville in August of 2022 and has helped well over 100 Asheville wine lovers expand their wine knowledge, and wine industry professionals achieve their certifications.

The WSET Level 1 Award in Wines on August 4th is a beginner level introduction to wine suitable for those starting a wine career, pursuing an interest in wine and/or working in the hospitality industry and includes tasting of 11 wines. Click here for more information and to register
WSET Level 2 Award in Wines (a three-day course including the exam) takes place on August 5th, 6th and 12th. The classes offer foundational principles for wine tasting and wine and food pairing, as well as key knowledge about winemaking, viticulture, and the wine regions of the world and tasting of over 30 wines. Spanish Wine Essentials, held on August 11th and 13th presents the often-complex world of Spanish wine in an accessible and engaging way; highlighting “need to know” regions, grape varieties and wine styles and includes the tasting of over 25 Spanish wines. Students explore the culture, cuisines, history, viticulture and winemaking principles behind the most influential wine regions in the world while gaining industry-recognized certifications. It includes a detailed book, rich with photographs, maps, illustrations and infographics to optimize learning and one-year access to WSG’s e-learning platform. All classes are taught by Melanie Webber, Director of MWWine School. Webber holds the globally-recognized WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wine and Spirits, as well as WSG’s Spanish Wine Scholar and French Wine Scholar certifications. She is also an adjunct wine studies professor at College of the Canyons, and has traveled the world visiting wine regions to gather knowledge to share with her students, and writes about wine at her BottlePoet blog.
